Hiya!
Sorry, I know I said I was going to do weekly posts and I honestly meant to. I'll try to do better in June! Anyway, I have exciting news! No, I'm not going to reveal my most recent weigh-in just yet! I'd like to share with you guys a couple of apps that have become my staples throughout this process! Also, I thought of a goal (I guess that's what it is) that I forgot to mention in the last post! My "goal" is to run The Color Run Shine Tour 5K in November in Little Rock! That ties in with the whole app thing, promise!
Okay, surely you've read 8000 blogs where people RAVE about the MyFitnessPal app. I have problems using this app because I don't do a lot of eating out or eating of packaged foods. I also don't weigh my food. I use visual portion sizes and eat healthy foods (veggies, fruits, etc.), so that app does me no good. BUT there are two apps that are truly helping me!
The Nike running app is helping me train for the 5K! It has this cool option to enter a coaching program, but since my run isn't until November, the 8 week program hasn't started yet. It suggests that I run 5 miles per week, which I think I can handle! If you're interested in running, this app is great! Or any couch to 5K app. Honestly, I think any app that has a coaching program is great for inexperienced runners!
The other app that has been featured on my instagram majorly is Happy Scale. This app suggests that you weigh as often as possible, but don't be alarmed! I don't enter my weight very often because I don't have a trustworthy scale at my house. I weigh in at my gym on Friday mornings because why not! Honestly, it's because I'm at the gym at 5 a.m. on Fridays to go to spin class! So, it's the perfect time for my "official" weigh ins! Happy Scale is great because it tracks your weight loss on a chart, divides your desired weight loss into milestones, and predicts your finish date!
Now I'll get to the weigh ins that I've had through the month of May! Like I said, Happy Scale divides my desired weight loss (59 pounds) into milestones. I chose to have 10 milestones (5.9 pounds is one milestone). On May 14th I reached my first milestone, weighing in at 199.4 pounds. Last Friday I reached my second milestone weighing in at............................................................ 197.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am officially below 200 pounds! I hope to reach milestone number three by my birthday (June 13th). Push to the finish!

Project: 1C6196
Welcome! I bet the title of this blog (and this post) just look like a few numbers with a random letter thrown in. Well, it's actually a reference to 1 Corinthians 6:19. In this passage we are told that as saved men and women, our bodies are temples of the Holy Ghost. This has long been the argument against tattoos, smoking and drug use in the Christian community. But, many Christians choose to avoid the fact that while they refrain from harming God's Temple with tattoos and drugs, they do not actually care for the health of their temples. How can a Christian properly execute the Great Commission when they're suffering from diseases related to their lack of proper nutrition and exercise?
Let me start at the beginning of this entire thought process.
On April 28, 2015 I went to see my doctor with shoulder pains. I wasn't even thinking about the fact that they would weigh me. Thinking I still weighed around 190 pounds, I stepped on the scale with hesitation. When the nurse put the balance weight on 200 and it still wouldn't balance, I almost cried. Finally, the scale balanced on 209 pounds. I felt SICK. Just typing this I get a lump in my throat. As if by magic, my big sis texted me a few days later asking if I wanted to join a gym here in town with her. My big, my best friend and I all signed up Saturday afternoon (May 2).
No one will probably ever read this, and that's okay. This is where I'm going to try and make a weekly log of my progress. Ashley, my best friend, has convinced me to attend spin class on Friday mornings... AT 5 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING! I want to cry, but because of our work schedule and the classes schedule, it's really the only thing that will work. However, it's official, in one week I have lost 3.4 pounds. I now weigh 205.6 pounds. I think I may list my weight loss goals (milestones) below and let you all know when I've reached each one!
Goal 1: Get my weight below 200 pounds (199 pounds is fine).
Goal 2: Lose my double chin.
Goal 3: Less arm flab/pooch.
Goal 4: Tone my inner thighs!
Goal 5: Maintain a healthy lifestyle!
Goal 6: Be happy with my body and hopefully reach my goal weight of 150 pounds!

In case anyone is wondering, I'm wearing a sorority recruitment tee, Under Armour compression leggings and Puma athletic shoes. I don't know, it seems relevant. Haha, my big is in the back ground doing pull ups!
